Give your bathroom a spring refresh

Your bathroom is a place with high use and practicality. It’s used multiple times per day and takes a lot of wear and tear.

Therefore, if you don’t give the space enough love an care, it can start to look tired and haggard.

This spring is a perfect time to make some well-needed updates to your bathroom. Making your bathroom practical, however, doesn’t mean that you can’t make the space relaxing and inspirational too.

So, here are some ideas to help you plan…

Introduce a pop of colour

Let’s face it, the vast majority of our bathrooms are painted in a shade of white. Although pale shades do offer a fresh look, sometimes bathrooms can be totally transformed with a simple lick of paint. Brighter colours can make your flooring and tiles pop out, as well as making the space feel warmer and more indulgent.

Serene greens can help to bring in a sense of nature and purity, whereas blissful blues can make a bathroom feel nautical, relaxing and spa-like.

Always look for moisture, steam and mould-resistant bathroom paint to keep your room looking in the best shape for longer.

Re-look at your flooring

Bathroom flooring is often overlooked. However, changing your bathroom flooring type can make a dramatic difference to the appearance of your space.

Bathroom floors tend to receive the highest amount of traffic and footfall of any room as well as having to stand up to moisture and humidity to boot. Therefore, your floor choice has to have practical considerations. But, there are some stunning options available, depending on whether you want to go for a modern tiled look or an earthy wooden effect LVT floor.

Upgrade your taps and fittings

Simple things like replacing the taps to your sink and bath will instantly transform the look of your bathroom. This is also quite a straightforward thing to do yourself if you are handy with a bit of DIY.

Taps come in so many styles, shapes, and materials to enhance any bathroom design. Brass taps are perfect for traditional bathrooms, while matte black styles are a great choice for a modern monochrome look.

Even replacing an old shower head can freshen up the look of your bathroom too. Choose a rainfall shower head so you can enjoy a refreshing showering experience or fit a new hand shower for a quick and easy update.

Invest in new bathroom linen

Scruffy towels and stained bath mats can really spoil the look of your bathroom. Therefore, investing in a new set of high-quality towels and a matching bath mat can add new life to the room.

If you don’t want to paint the walls of your bathroom, then towels and linen can add colour and pattern to the bathroom in a subtler way. Florals are great for adding a vintage touch, while shades of green or blue can enhance a sense of calm and relaxation.

Bring nature inside

Nothing says springtime quite like lush green plants. Bring some life into your bathroom in a simple way with some house plants or a fresh floral arrangement. Moisture-loving plants such as Aloe Vera and Chinese Evergreen will thrive in bathrooms, so place them on window ledges, by the sink and wherever else you have a space.
